Specialty Camps
in Dance, Golf, Riding, Sports, Tae Kwon Do and Tennis
- Ages 7-13 (Riding and Golf for grades 3-8 in fall)
- Campers attend Decoma 5 days per week
- At 9:30 a.m. the camp day begins at Decoma. Campers leave camp to come home at approximately 3:30 p.m.
- Specialties operate Monday through Thursday in the afternoons
Specialty Camp presents the unique opportunity for campers to concentrate in specific areas of interest at state-of-the-art facilities, combined with a blend of traditional camp activities.
As part of the specialty program, campers will receive:
- 1 to 1 ½ hours of concentration in their specialty area Monday through Thursday
- Twice daily swim periods (one instructional and one free swim)
- Many regular fun-filled Decoma activities each morning
- Friday activities at Decoma and special event days
Dance & Poms
Learning will be fun at Marcia’s Dance Studio where campers will have instruction in all the current hip-hop moves and learn movements and routines in cheerleading/poms. Marcia’s is a spacious and air-conditioned facility in Buffalo Grove. Join today and be the camper that stands out from the rest, as you dance to all the current tunes and experience all the fun! This camp will truly bring out the dancing "Diva" in all of you and it's where you will be the STAR!
Golf Camp
Golf Camp prepares campers for the lifetime of pleasure of playing golf. At Willowhill Golf Course in Northbrook, certified instructors teach a junior golf program for girls and boys. Willowhill is the most extensive natural grass training facility in the area. In addition to professional instruction, we will utilize practice putting greens, a mini golf course, short game practice areas and a driving range which allows campers to improve their techniques. Campers will also play a round of golf each week.
Riding Camp
Riding Camp at Red Coat Farm provides English Riding lessons for boys and girls. Campers will receive riding instruction at the beginner, intermediate, or advanced level. Campers will also have time at the end of each lesson to learn horsemanship skills including tacking, feeding, and grooming.
Sports Camp
Sports Camp is for the camper who cannot get enough of sports! It affords boys and girls the opportunity to play a multitude of team sports that help to develop camper technique and self-confidence. Through a variety of drills and scrimmages, skilled instructors will focus on sportsmanship, skill development, strategy and game play.
Tae Kwon Do
Four afternoons a week, Classes will be taught at the Oriental Arts Training Center in Northbrook under the direction of Grand Master Ki Hong Kim. Instruction in this 2000-year-old martial art will give campers the opportunity to improve concentration and self esteem, achieve lifelong physical fitness, and learn self-defense skills.
Tennis Camp
Tennis Camp offers professional tennis instruction and gives campers the opportunity to progress in tennis at a much faster rate. Instruction will take place at Northbrook Racquet Club, an indoor air-conditioned facility. Tennis pros (aided by Decoma Camp counselors) teach stroke development, refinement and game strategy through a variety of drills and match play.
