Where do campers come from?
Campers come from many communities – as far north as Gurnee and as far south as the north side of Chicago – from the lake to the east as far as Hawthorn Woods to the west. Contact us to learn more about our north shore Summer Camp.
Can my camper stay for more than four weeks?
Campers are required to enroll for a minimum of four weeks and most attend the full 8-week program. However, many campers enroll for 5,6,7, or 9 weeks. The weeks do not have to be consecutive.
Can we see camp before we decide?
Of course! During the summer we encourage parents and campers to come for a tour. At that time, you will be able to see Decoma in action! During the colder months we would be happy to come to your home to give you a better idea of what Decoma is all about and/or schedule a tour of camp to provide information and answer any questions you may have.
My son/daughter is coming with a friend. Will they be able to be a group together?
Yes. We do our best to honor friendship requests. Campers are grouped according to age and sex. Please indicate your campers’ friend request on the friend request form. All friend requests must be completed by May 20th.
What is the ratio of staff to campers?
Our camper to staff ratio is less than 4:1
Will my child learn to swim?
Your child will receive daily swimming lessons from qualified instructors. We have an exceptional American Red Cross based swim program and Decoma has produced thousands of swimmers over the years!
Are parents able to visit during camp?
Absolutely! We ask that parents refrain from visiting during the first two weeks of camp. After that you are welcome any time!
What are transportation options?
We provide free door-to-door bus service to most suburbs and Chicago’s north side. You can also choose parent transportation- or a combination of both (choose either/or for the AM and the PM). Drop off and pick up times will be assigned as it gets closer to the summer season.
